I would start at Kearsarge Pass and once on the JMT head south. Want to add additional mileage then add any number of side trips into center basin. Pick up a map of SEKI and go to town. I would be flexible. You may be in good shape but unless you have experience with 13k elevation, you don’t know the effect it will have. That’s some beautiful country.

thanks for the advise! and the quick response!
If everything goes well how long should it take me from Kearsarge straight (no side trips)?
Actually iv’e been quite a few times abpve 13k (though I know each time could be different).
thanks again.

How long it takes will depend on your desire and fitness. I was able to do that section in a day and half but we were booking right along. There are so many great options in that area to customize your trip. As long as you know you can do the direct route in the timing, get a good map and wing it. That area is so easy to hike off trail, if you have wanted to do that.
