Help with planning a trip

Hi all,

I live in Denver and want to go on a LONG trip with my dog (I am fine doing 3 weeks or more). My own version of “Into the Wild” hopefully minus the poisonous root. I can take any amount of time, I’m not even against trying to do the entire CT. Mostly I’d like to talk to anyone who is experienced with doing such a long hike (the longest I’ve done was 60 miles over 5 days). I’m not worried about the physical aspects, more about logistics re: transportation, my dog and food for that long of a trip. Please let me know if you’d be willing to strike up a conversation!

Thank you,

Jenny

You should read through this book. It’s a good start to planning any CT adventure!

Hi Jenny,

Here on Trail Journals you can see some info on Castanada and his dog Vaca who thru=hiked the A.T. in 2009.

Here’s his journal (he had trouble keeping up with it):

Castanada & Vaca’s 2009

Here’s his e-mail. I’m certain he wouldn’t mind answering some questions about the issues involved with hiking with a dog.

Enjoy the hike,
