High route: entry, exit, and resupply

we are doing about two weeks on the high sierra route and are planning exit, entry, and one resupply. We don’t plan on doing the whole thing. Looking for the fastest entry point as in easiest to get to. Looks like Toulomne meadows then head south. Any suggestions for resupply? Does the high route go near VVR? For exit, we’ll probably end up on 395 somehwere since we can’t plan exact mileage. Any suggestions on good entry, exit points to the high route.

Are you planning to follow the JMT or are you just going free-style?
What is High Route?
If you’re following JMT then you will go right thru VVR. No need to send a package if you only need to re-up on food. By this time of the year the hiker-boxes are full to the brim and Jim (the owner) has his store shelve stacked for hikers.
I would then re-up in Independence/Bishop on the east side of the range, exiting out over Kearsarge Pass. If you plan a hike around 400 miles I would then re-up for a hike to the west side and into Sequoia National Park, some of the most remote spots in the sierra.
But if you plan to stay high then look at your maps and devise circler hikes along that area with Whitney portal as a good exit
have a great time and be safe

The sierra high route is mostly off trail occasionally following the jmt. Its about 200 miles from north of yosemite to kings canyon. It stays above 10000 instead of doing the roller coaste

The high route goes fairly close to VVR and is likely to be your best (only?) resupply option. The route crosses Mono Creek before heading up the second recess and the creek crossing is about 6 miles from Lake Edison and the VVR ferry.

I guess Reds Meadow will be too early for a resupply if you are starting from Tuolumne. Other than that you will just have to head out to an eastside trailhead and hitch a ride.

Thanks, now we just have to make sure we make it to vvr before they close Oct. 1 I believe.
