For those of you who will be north-bounding soon in the area between Davenport Gap and Damascus - you might want to be aware of a couple of hikers named Mountain Man and Mountain Dew.
They are a father and 13-year old daughter who are supposedly thru-hiking NOBO. As of 2/13/05 they are in the vicinity of Sam’s Gap/Erwin, Tennessee.
They have been investigated by the USFS; were in possession of some stolen dogs; and there are some concerns about their welfare, in general.
I’m only mentioning this because I met them; have been involved; and want other hikers to have the opportunity to know what has been going on - should they also encounter MM & MD while hiking.
