A man was shot twice in the leg while hiking near Cosby on Friday 9/7. He was not near the AT and bushwacking in the Laurel Springs road area. He is OK now after making a tourniquet and walking 90 minutes. Rangers and a detective are searching the area. (from the Newport Plain Talk).

I just heard on the radio that the "victim" has recounted his story. Turns out he was shot while commiting a robbery outside of the park. His new home will have bars instead of bears.

I think people get shot at around Cosby quite often so it was not unbelieveable to hear the first version of the story.
