I want to hike to California. Im new to hiking but learning. So what can you tell me to help?
How much money should I have for food, equip repair, motels, laundry, postage etc?
What route should I take? I would like to see some popular sites on the way like the grand canyon and las vegas.
What about personal protection from animals and other people?
What about making money along the way? any ideas or tips there?

_Michael_ Maybe you should check out the American Discovery Trail. Plenty of people have done that trail and there are lots of sources for your questions. You could hike from GA to Harpers Ferry and make a left when you hit the ADT.
_yuk-yuk_ I suppose "hiking" into Vegas would be about as surreal as finding a stripper at Muskrat Creek Shelter. "New to hiking" might mean one should attempt a section of a real trail first, or just take Interstate 10 from Ga. to Caliphoney....
