Hiking Partner August 24-September 2?

As the title suggests, I am looking for someone to hike with during the last week of August. I am meeting friends to start a thru-hike from the Durango side on September 2. I finish my work a week earlier, however, and I’m hoping to get more hiking in. My plan is to start from Denver and go southwest, ending near Frisco. I might need to take the first few days light but could finish the week averaging 20 miles per day. In my desperation for a partner, I am flexible with paces and dates and destinations.

Fair Warning: I have a great deal of backpacking experience but none at altitude.

Please let me know if you are interested in joining me or have any questions.

Good luck finding your hiking partner, Sarah. Starting in Denver makes good sense for acclimatizing.

But another approach, given your DGO-DEN thru plan, would be to use your first week to hike the Collegiate piece that you won’t see in your thru. If your thru plan is for Collegiate West, for example, you might try to get the Collegiate East your first week. Then, as you finish your thru, you’d have seen it all. Just a thought.

Whatever you decide, hope it all comes together for you.

Thanks for the advice and well wishes, On Track!

I used the term “thru” a little loosely. Due to some last minute changes, my friends only have three weeks. I don’t think we’ll make it all the way to Denver in that time. Starting in Denver would hopefully let me see all of the trail and make my transportation to Durango much easier.

I’ll see what happens of course
