Hiking Partner for JMT this summer

Hello, I am a 22 year old male, graduating from college this spring and I want to hike the John Muir Trail this summer. I am looking for a hiking partner.
I am relatively inexperienced with long distance through hiking, but I love the outdoors, I am in pretty good shape, have done a few multi-day hikes in the Cascades, and I’m eager to learn more.
I’m flexible on start date/end date and distance per day.

Please send me an email if you are looking for someone to hike with this summer!

Hi Tom,

Since you mention the Cascades then I assume you live in the Northwest? Having backpacked many miles in the Cascades before we completed the JMT in 2011, I strongly recommend that you get at least some good weeklong trips in the Cascades under your belt before attempting the JMT. Examples: Timberline Trail around Mt. Hood is 50% (40+ miles) of Wonderland Trail around Mt. Rainier; Wonderland Trail is 50% (90+ miles) of the JMT. Doing Wonderland will provide experience with +/- 3000 ft, 10-mile+ days every day, changing conditions (i.e., gear testing), and the logistics of resupplies, permits, dealing with bears, etc. Even better if you can then follow Wonderland with the Tahoe Rim Trail (165 miles, compared with JMT’s 220). Do all of these and you will be ready and confident for the JMT. (In the meantime, read the many journals on here about Wonderland, the TRT, and the JMT.) Happy Trails!

Hi Tom!
I’m a 22 years old backpacker from Israel and I’m also looking for someone to hike with the JMT. I want to begin hiking on the first possible moment, possibly early June, but I’m flexible.
