Hey - me and my girlfriends are wanting to Hike Hotel Draw Road to Durango the last week in May. I heard there may be too much snow at this time…does anyone know if this is true or what it is like now??? Any help would be appreciated!!

Thank you!!

Impossible to say but you would likely encounter some deep snow in places. Snow depth is about 60-70" at 10,500’ right now. The top of Indian Trail Ridge in Segment 27 would probably be ok but the climb up to Cape of Good Hope will probably have deep snow in the trees. The Sliderock traverse in Seg 28 is oftentimes a full on iceaxe and crampon situation until mid June. The trail is only 12" wide there when it is clear and it crosses a near vertical slope.

Hi we are considering hiking segments 18 and 19 and possible more, late next week, does anyone know how the snow looks in this area?
Thanks!

The Hermosa creek trail outside Durango should be clear of snow and links up to wherever you would want to hike! I spent 6 weeks on the Dutch Creek trail building rock & log retaining walls, was a beautiful place.
