Stacey and I have decided to hike the Arizona Trail from North to South starting sometime in September. We were just wondering if anybody else was planning a southbound trip this Fall too?

i’m very jealous and would love to do it, but can’t. what are you planning to do about water, expecially in the south? just curious, as my AZT dreams have all been nobo in spring (following the thaw).

We have a few lists of potential water sources that we have acquired for the arizona trail and plan to carry about 4 liters of water per day or between existing water sources. We found this adequate with the continental divide trail when we were heading south bound and arrived in new mexico in late september and early october. Comparing ourselves to other hikers we met, we seemed to be less concerned about water availability and actually drank much less than other CDT hikers that we met in New Mexico. We expect the desert conditions not to be much different than what we experienced on the CDT last fall. Everything always seems to just work out just fine. Have a great summer and fall everyone!
