Hiking with a knee brace - partial ACL tear

Hello! I was curious if anyone has ever hiked with a knee brace on. Particularly with an ACL injury.

I partially tore my ACL last year attempting to hike the AT. I’ve been building strength since then to go back, but I still have a bit of pain sometimes. No instability though.

Thinking about a brace and wondering if anyone had any comments or suggestions. I’m super determined to hike this year!

I have severe osteoarthritis in one knee so I am forced to wear a large and expensive knee brace to take the weight off of the inside of my knee. It is heavy, hot and uncomfortable but the alternative is sitting on the couch. As soon as I get done destroying this knee I will get a new one :)

Don't let your knee brace issue and ACL/MCL problem slow you down. I hike 100% now with a Donjoy brace. My trailer name is pegleg. The brace is just part of my gear. No doubt at the end of a long day I am glad to get it off of my right leg, but I would not be without it. Good luck to you and keep walking.

I always pack a knee brace. Wear it when knee aches excessively. I have a knee replacement, but I keep walking.

Seems to me I have seen lots of hikers with knee braces.
