I am planning this summer's hike from Monson to Kinsman Notch and am wondering which hostel you recommend in Gorham and why? Thanks for any info you can give me.

I stayed at the hikers paradise in hotel and hostel. Thave have a bunkroom style hostel in the main building and then motel style rooms out back. Being that I was splurging towards the end, I stayed in a private room. It was still cheap and the owners were great. THere is a restaurant attached to the front of the main building...and they serve a kick ass breakfast.

Thanks Lakewood. My brother and I stayed with you last year at Trapper John LT in NH. I remember you left at about 3:30 in the morning to do a big day to the hostel in Glencliff. How much was the room if you remember? Glad to see that you finished and thanks again

paw-ee and i stayed in one of the little private cottages out back of the hostel and it was wonderful!......the owner, bruno, is hilarious, but BEWARE!.... he's an avid practical joker and has a quirky sense of humor....(i think that's why some hikers who roll in there tired from their trek through the whites get sort of 'ticked off' with poor bruno)....he does, however fashion a great breakfast (which also gets a side order of his own special brand of humor!)....in '03, he made me pancakes that were in the shape of a 'hiker foot' (complete with 'toe jam'[jelly], and 'foot powder'[powdered sugar]!)....be nice to bruno....respect his property and he will be nice to you!....(his wife is very sweet and gave us a ride back to the trail).....ENJOY GORHAM!

Stinger and I stayed at Hiker's Paradise in 05 and 06 and enjoyed our stay there. The hostel is in a good location so you are able to walk to resupply or get a good meal. Bruno has one rule that I remember, take of your boots before entering the hostel. There is another hostel on the edge of town and most hikers we met in town were happy with it. Gorham is a great little town.
