Which motel in Hot Springs offers a clean, comfortable reasonably quiet room?

Is Elmer still in Hot Springs? If so, what was the name of his Inn? I stayed once and would like to stay again this time round. Cheers

do not stay at the Alpine Court. It is a piece of crap, I was sorry to stay there this year. I’m pretty sure the owner doesn’t give a crap about hikers. Stay at Elmers or the new spot above paddlers pub. There is also a hostel run by the outfitters and a nice campground with showers for 5 bucks.

I stayed at the Alpine Motel in 99 and did not like it. It was not clean, the bathroom was ditry and no telephone in the room and the price was only thing up about the place.

Hotsprings hotels are, for something clean will cost you a pretty penny. Here is so advise also, we came in on Easter Sunday, everyone (EVERYONE) left the town, one resturant was open and was out of most things that we tried to order.
There are however some options, the camp ground has cabins although expensive at 60 a night (you can get 5 or 6 in them) no t.v. no phone, outside shower. Acossed from the camp ground there are some nice, almost trailer like cabins that were clean but 80 a night, (bath and phone) but limit on how many they would let stay.
Most of the night is spent in the Paddlers Pub and the rest is usually spent on the ground between the Pub and the over priced the room you rented.

I highly recommend the Duckett House Inn. Discount for thru-hikers, the owners, Brian & Frank are super-nice, and the rooms are cozy, new bathroom upstairs, rocking chairs on the wrap around poarch, yummy food…i could go on & on…

I’ve never heard of problems at the motel and I know a lot of folks who’ve stayed there. But there are lots of options, as other folks have mentioned; the 2004 Thru-Hikers Companion will list all of them; you can also ask Dan or Wayne at the Outfitters for a list of lodging places. As for me, I’ve ALWAYS stayed at the Duckett House; it is, in fact, other than Keith Shaw’s in Monson, the ONLY place that I’ve stayed at on all of my trips.

what’s the name of that diner across the street from elmers? They put on a pretty good feed there. I will say that between the diner, the paddlers pub, and Elmers tasty food, Hot Springs was one of my favorite zero day towns. Great food options!
