I wanted to stay in a hotel the night before I hit the trail, any recommendations on which one? I wanted to catch the shuttle to the trailhead any information would be appreciated.

Depends where yo’ure coming from, how early you want to hike, and how much $$$. We stayed in Merced, since that’s where the train connects with the Yosemite shuttle. Motel 6 was fine. Wagon Wheel restaurant was very good.

If you want to stay in Yosemite Valley where the valley shuttle takes you to the trailhead there are a few choices and some I’m sure I don’t know about. Try Curry Village, they have tent cabins, hard sided cabins and Motel rooms starting at $77.00 a night, dbl occupancy. (summer rates) If that’s too steep try the Pines campgrounds ($20.00)or better yet the Backpackers campground ($5.00 with permit, I think) You can still use the showers and dining at Curry Village. (Vly shuttle has access to all) Of course there is always the famous Ahwahnee Hotel ($400’s), Yosemite Lodge ($175-200).
