We are looking for someone to stay in our cabin in 2 rivers alaska for 5 weeks this winter. What better place to find someone then here… where a bunch of unruly nomads hang out ! This is not a place for the faint of heart. It can get VERY freaking cold here not to mention the darkness. We are about 25 miles from fairbanks and that can take a nerve wracking hour to drive in. You would need to rent a car while you were here or you could stay in the area very easily. We have a small store, po and 2 So SO restuarants. They are all a 30 minute snow shoe away or so. We also have 3 dogs who we love very much. A dog person would be perfect for us. I also spend alot of time with 9 lonely sled dogs across the street. it would make me happy if I fould someone who would say hello to them now and then.
This area is famous for dog sledding and some of the best in the world train and live here for the iditarod and yukon quest. You will see them running . i love that ! The dogs are intense. We also have the otherworldly northern lights…you gotta see that for yourself to believe it. There is a awesome hot springs… very rustic resort and restuarant about 40 minutes or so up the road… which dead ends there.
The cabin has running water, power, sat tv and it very comfy. it is only 2o by 24…but nice size for a couple or a single person.
if you are looking for the Alaskan experience you will get it. If you are looking for town stuff to do and an easy winter this is not for you.
