How about this tent?

So…i found a possible tent. Went to look at it today, but the directions it comes with says, “While tent is water-resistant, it is not water-proof. Leakage may occur in heavy rains. Avoid contact with objects and tent wall. Contact by objects could cause leakage at area of contact.” That’s not verbatim, but it’s the basic idea. So… is that a normal warning with any tent? Or should i stay clear of this one?

Soundslike there saying don’t take this outside the backyard, and only usein thebackyard on a dry sunny day. I definitly would not use this tent anywhere I hike at. I would loook for a tent that can stand uptothe weather. It may cost more, but you get what you pay for many times.

Joy…you are too funny. You should do the approach trail with me and Burn. Come on, it’s only one more mountain.

In 02 I saw alot of the Sierra Design LightYear tents being used. Although I used a hammock, I bought one of these when I got home. Its a durable, fairly lite, one man tent. And at $119.00 for the 2003 model from Campmor, its a bargain as well.

Okay, so this is the tent I was considering. Anyone have any input? (This is the tent that had that warning i listed at the top of this post).

I thought the thing about the purple dinosaur was just a joke! :lol

Ummm… well, let’s see… it’s a heckuva lot lighter than my Coleman, almost as big and less than half the price. :tongue

That’s a rather small rainfly, but the specs on the website say it’s weatherproof, and that the seams are sealed to prevent leakage. I wouldn’t take their word for it, though. Set it up and see how it does in the rain. If it works, you’re going to win the prize for cheapest tent on the trail. If it doesn’t work, you’re only out $20.

(Let me know if it works.)

Hey C-Giddy !! Thats a good choice for a tent. $17.00 how can you go wrong? And if you dont make it because of exposure, the other hikers will have something to wrap your body in. Happy camping !!

Joy, you are carrying the MSR Brick?? aka Zoid 1.5? I use mine for 4 season hikes, as it is built like a fortress, but at a whopping 4 pounds?? !!!

I bought the Tarptent Squall, a feather by comparison to that MSR thingy.
