How do I get from Atlanta Airport to Springer Mountain?

This is really two questions.

  1. Assume I fly from Boston to Atlanta. What is the name of the airport in Atlanta that I’d be flying into? Is there only one?

  2. Once I arrive at the Atlanta Airport and have picked up my backpack from luggage; how do I get from the airport to Amicalola Falls State Park; and what is the cost?

Thanks for your help.

Dear Evil Eye and Wildflower,

Thank you both. I just went to their website and they make it simple. It’s nice, early in the game here, to have this issue resolved without complication. Thanks again.

Hiker Hostel is a good option but they only pickup at the Sandy Springs MARTA station. You’ll need to hop MARTA to this location and the shuttle from this point will run $78.

Dear Phreak,

I guest the question now is how to I get from the Atlanta Airport to the Sandy Springs Marta Station?

Can I take a train or bus directly from the Atlanta Airport to the Sandy Springs Marta Station?

Thanks for your help.

MARTA (Atlanta “subway” system) has a station at/in the Atlanta airport - so an easy ride all the way to the Sandy Springs stop & then HH picks you up there, to the hostel (with stops for final needs) & then to the trail. Can’t be easier. It’s all explained on the Hiker Hostel website.

Here is another option. Check in with Nancy and Jeff at The Hike Inn @ www.thehikeinn.com they have this down pat and can accommodate you as far as getting you to the AT and helping you along the way with your shuttle requirements.

Hiker Hostel is far and away your best option. Nail your dates down and make your reservation.

I didn’t know nothin’ 20 years ago, so I took the city bus to the Northernmost town; where ironically was my resupply box cuz it was the 1st PO in the postal book for Atlanta…
started walking north & got a ride all the way to Amicalola from a guy with a pickup! Your results may vary! gbm
