How far drive distance/time from Fontana Dam to Spring Mountain

I am hoping to hike at the end of August from Springer Mountain to Fontana Dam. I am trying to plan my days and would like to know what the drive time from Fontana Dam to Springer Mountain would be. I would like to leave me my car at the dam and then have someone shuttle me to the beginning of the AT. Any thoughts on time and distance? In addition, anyone know of a shuttle service or individual that can help get me from Fontana to Springer.

Thanks so much for your help.

Check with Joyce and Sally out of Hiawassee, Georgia. They shuttled me from Winding Stair Gap to Neals Gap. There is the Hike Inn near Fontana Dam, they provide shuttles. You could also check with the Walasi-yi Center at Neals Gap. They keep up with the local shuttlers. Check with the various shuttlers, but probably starting at Amicalola Falls would be faster and less expensive than the USFS Road 42 parking lot. I think it will take 3 hours travel time from Fontana to Amicalola and 4+ hours to the USFS 42 parking lot.

It's a 3-3.5 hour drive from fontana to AMSP, to springer add about an hour to that,When you arrive at fontana go to the APPALACHIAN HIKE INN they located on Stecoah RD they do shuttles if they can't go all the way they have an shuttle list you should be able to find someone pretty easy. Good luck and happy hiking
