I am assuming you saw my reply to Not so fast. I was never on the approach trail. From Springer to Dicks Creek Gap it took 6 days for me. Read my journal. I took my time and stopped to smell the roses.

I got to Dicks Creek Gap early on my my 7th day. I did the Approach Trail and slept at the old Stover Creek Shelter, Gooch Mountain, Blood Mountain, resupplied at Nells Gap, Slept at Cowrock Mountain, Blue Mountain Shelter, Deep Gap Shelter and then hiked the 3.5 miles to Dicks Creek Gap.

Cowrock Mountain was a nice camp. Blood Mountain Shelter was old and most chose not to stay there as it give most a bad vibe, but it was bad. The sunshine was nice as we laid out on some of the rocks on top. I don’t remember much of the other shelters with the execption of the old Stover Creek Shelter due to the fact it was my first shelter on my first night of the trail. It seems like Gooch Mountain shelter was nice as well.

Happy trails, hope this helps.
