How many people have summited Mt Katahdin so far. I am talking about the people hiking northbound this year. Has Sweeper made it? If anyone knows any of this post a reply.
Thanks,

Yes! I’m back after summiting Big K on the 25th. How is everyone? To answer your question, I think I was 6th as far as 2001 northbounders are concerned. Here’s who was ahead of me and in what order (to the best of my knowledge): June 7th- Chuckwagon; June 18th- Lindy (and?) Arthur; June 21st- Sundown; June 24th- Mellow Yellow. I also tend to count Alex who summited the 24th and started her hike February of 2000. Comer and Jean were scheduled to summit today, and if you asked me, I’d guess a dozen have finished by now!

Hey Sweeper, Congrads!! I have been following up on your journal. I hope you enjoyed your hike. Are you planning on doing any other thru hikes?

Hey Hacksaw and James. Thanks. Happy 4th to everyone. Hope ya got to see some fireworks. I’m very grateful to have been able to get out and thru-hike this year and did not in jure myself in the process. I wish you guys happy trails. toanswer your question, I’d love to do another thru-hike. I’m hooked. I’m trying to take care of some school stuff right now, but hope to be able to squeeze a Long Trail thru-hike in before school actually starts in August. Would need to be done by the 4th of Aug. in time for a wedding in Mass., so deadline to start on that hike will be middle of July. Will keep you all posted! Take care. -Sweeper

Happy to see a fellow thru-hiker reach his goal. Unfortnately some of us find ourselves injured and no matter how we try it just does’t happen for us! Glad for you, you worked hard for that momment on the Big K and deserve a huge pat on the back! YAHOO!!! Sue T - hamockhngr

Thanks Sue, I have been checking in to your journal from time to time. I’m sure you have heard too much of this kind of stuff, but here goes anyway: so sorry to hear about your injury. Quite glad to see you trudging forward. You’ll make it! Your resolve and tenacity is something for us other hikers to look up to. Keep in mind that Big K is not going to just up and leave. Mountains don’t walk away
So take your time and enjoy the rest of the incredible journey! As a side-note, on my way back to NC from ME and Canada, I swung by Harpers Ferry on June 29th. Too bad we did not meet up at the ATC! I’m looking to start a southbound hike of the long trail on July 15th or 16th, finishing in Mass. on August 2nd or 3rd. Maybe we’ll cross paths! -Sweeper

Thought you’d like to know…Marco Polo (Michael Pullar) from New Zealand summitted early in July and stayed with me while in New York…While I don’t have first hand knowledge I believe that Lonewolf has finished and also MotherGoose and the Older Rocket have finished…If anyone has details on these two…i’d appreciate knowing.

Got an e-mail from Mother Goose and Rocket recently. They finished July 5th. Congrats to them.

Notice all other respondents are way way back in time. As for me. I reachd the sumit of special K on 9/23/01. I must say, it was glorious.
