How many years before CT gets as popular as AT or PCT?

A friend turned me on to the CT a few years ago. I view it as a “sleeper” trail only a matter of time before it becomes bucket list hike for AT fans. At this point, I am more apt to go hike the CT than the AT, even though it is way off from my east coast abode, because it has less hikers on it and the scenery is so much more intense than the AT. Most of the AT hikers I have met do not know much about the CT. I think the newness of it (started in late 1980’s) is part of the reason.

Well, I hope it never gets popular, so it keeps its solitude, ruggedness and priste state. Crowds always ruin it and I think it is already crowded with mountain bikers and section dayhikers.
