Hydration system

Does anyone know how I can create a hydration system with my Jansport pack that has a deep main compartment and Camelback bladder?. I was thinking along the lines of putting the camelback in the main section and having the tube come around to one of the shoulder straps. The concerns I have are the accessibility of refilling it while being cramped with other gear and not punching while in the pack. I would appreciate some ideas.

We stuck our bladders inside the spray skirt in the top of the pack with the always leaking tube run out the side. Easy to get to. If you stick it down inside you could wrap it with a thin piece of foam and refill it by pumping back up the hose if you have a filter. Make a little adapter so the filter hose fits on the drink hose. A plastic barb from the hardware store?

camelbak bladders (the omega ones, frmo 2002 onwards) have a hook loop on the top, so you could hang it on the side of your pack. they are pretty sturdy bladders…

I always put the bladder between the top of the pack and the “lid”. Don’t know if your pack has a lid, but most do. Some lids have a couple straps you can use, mine doesn’t, but the bladder I use fits on the bottom just fine. I generally shy away from putting anything with water in it inside the main compartment. Too great a risk of leaking, particularly when you pull on the compression straps.
