this is an interesting website that deals with hopefully uncommon situations. One is suppose a person has no heartbeat due to cold. Are they dead? Not guarentteed. You might want to read this, just in case.

That is great and interesting information, pretty much none of which I knew. Thank you for sharing.

Hey People: Read-up! My Mom will feel much better about me being on the trail if there are lots of you who can nurse me back to health if I run into to trouble.

I also like AT LEAST TWO bed-time stories per night, so come prepared!

One thing you can do to alleviate your mom’s fears is to BE the person who can nurse yourself and others back to health. I highly recommend you check into a Wilderness First Aid course (one weekend)or, even better, a Wilderness First Responder course (2 weeks). The WFA is a great course, most likely offered by someone in your area, that will cover CPR, basic long-term care in the wilds, etc. It really should be the minimum for anyone that spends time “out there”.
