All i think about is getting back on the trail. I am in my third year of a PhD program and if there was a way to support myself on the trail I would just hike up and down the coast and never return to academia. Life was so much more simpler, "in the moment", and happier on the trail.

Thats exactly my problem! I would love to live on the trail the rest of my life, but I would have no money for food! If only backpacking was a career.

it is a carrier? - career> one of my favorites of all time "A walk in the woods" about through hiking the AT. Now that I'm 52 years old and the kids are graduating college - I'm fat but remember the days on the AT with scouts so fondly. I hope to be shed of the kids(adults now) as well of weight soon and be back on the trail. Hope the wife likes it, if not I hope the dog like my wife.
