Planning to do a section hike and need to leave a car in Franklin area for 4 days, near the AT (preferably)or in Franklin.
What are some good locations to leave vehicles overnight in this area?

I would contact Ron Haven via the Sapphire or Budget Inn Motels. He will probably let you leave your car there and give you a shuttle up to Winding Stairs. The Budget Inn is a hiker hangout this time of year. Both places are downtown.

If you plan to head north, there is a new hostel now at Burningtown Gap. So you can stay in comfort there and then at NOC the next night and forego the camping experience if you want. The hostel at Aquone will pick you up at the Gap if you like. The owner's name is Wiggy. enjoy...

I would recommend parking at Winding Stair Gap, which is where the AT crosses US 64. Like Subman, I have also parked my car there many times (usually for 3-4 days at a time) and never had a problem. However, vandalism and theft can occur at AT trailheads, so I would recommend not leaving anything too valuable in the car. Another option is contacting Ron Haven (a real trail angel) and seeing if you can park your car at one of his hotels in Franklin, and he can give you a ride to the trail.

I think you already have the info you need from the prior post but I would like to add that the ATC website list parking areas and/or shuttles, by state and city, for the entire trail. I'm a section hiker and i always use someone from this list for parking and shuttles. Good luck!

You can always park free at one of my places in Franklin or Hiawassee…:cheers
