If you need help in Tucson

There might be an overload of trail angels already…i just moved to Tucson so i don’t know. But, if you’re planning on thru-hiking the AZT and think you might like a ride into/out of Tucson, a place to stay in town, or just a quick stop for resupply, etc., i’ll be happy to help. I did the PCT this year, so i owe a ton of karma back for all the people who helped me out.

Email me before you leave, and i’ll send you my cell number. I may be out of town for the university’s spring break week, but i’ll let you know when that is so that you’ll know before you come through whether i’ll be available or not.

Hey Mark, Any chance I could get a ride from Tucson to the Mex border? I’m planning a thru hike starting about April 1, but go any day of the week if it’s better for you. TIA.

Bowlegs, I dunno but you might ask about chipping in for gas and maybe cooking up a turkey dinner to sweeten the pot. That’s a pretty long haul from Tucson. I think Mark may have been referring to the AZT where it runs near the city. That’s a more reasonable run for random trail angeling purposes. Most of us would probably have to turn down your offer, but not for want of desire to help.

Of course I’d pay for gas and a breakfast, lunch or dinner.

Or get a quote, name it, and see if anyone decides to compete for your business.

Southern AZT Terminus - From Tucson, AZ the Arizona World Shuttle Express (520-458-3330) will pick up at the Tucson airport and take you to Sierra Vista, AZ and then to the Coronado National Memorial Visitors Center close to Montezuma’s Pass. Please contact them 24 hours in advance. Call for rates.

Yeah, i meant Tucson area. Mexico is kinda far. See what else you can find, but if you have no leads and the shuttle service is way out of your budget, email me later. There’s an off-chance i could get you down there on the morning of 3/28. Doubtful, no promises, but maybe.

The shuttle costs around $150/$160 (well, it would have if I had left last Friday). But I guess it’s a rather long ride. I actually e-mailed you about a week ago Mark but maybe my e-mail ended up in your spam folder? I’ll probably leave sometime next week now but have no idea when I would make it up to the Tuscon area (trailwise).

Looks like the shuttle to Sierra City for $90 and a cab to Coronado for $60 or $70. That’ll work.
