Inexpensive lodging in Manchester N.H

I hope to be flying into Manchester N.H. from Dutch Harbor AK. inroute to the ALDHA gathering. Does anyone know of any inexpensive lodging in Manchster or Lebanon for when I first arrive? It has been 20 years since I,ve had a chance to make it to a Gathering. I,d like to pull it off this year if I can keep it from costing me an arm and a leg.

If you’re going to try to make it to Lebanon, an option (depending on what amenities you are looking for) could be just to go the extra 5 miles to Hanover and hike out the 6/10 of a mile to the shelter, or even just find a nice flat spot just out of town on the trail - fo’free.

Otherwise, check out travelocity.com, click the hotel link and go from there. You can search by amenities, price, etc. The Econolodge in Manchester (not sure of the location) is around 70/night - which looks like one of the cheaper rates.

If you are looking for inexpensive lodging in the Hanover area, then I suggest you check out the Hotel Coolidge in nearby White River Junction, Vermont.

Last year upon arriving in Hanover and looking for a place to stay, I was also told by a few locals that my best bet might be the Hotel Coolidge in White River Jct. I caught a bus and rode all the way down there only to find that they wanted $97 a night. I ended up walking to the Super 8, which was only slightly cheaper, but by then I’d been wandering around for three hours and just wanted a place to drop my pack. However, I came through on a southbound hike, right at the peak of leaf season, so prices were jacked up throughout the entire region. You might want to check with the Hotel Coolidge and see what their normal rates are. Who knows, maybe the lady who I spoke with last year was just tired of dealing with smelly hikers. She did seem awfully eager in directing me to another motel…
