Hey all, hiked the JMT this past summer and had a ball! Looking to possibly try the CDT but also for some dog friendly hikes this summer. Looking for a little info, Please? Can dogs come on Colorado trail??? What’s an average time table for this trail? Any ifo would be appreciated, thanks.

The CT is open to dogs except for the first segment. I hiked the CT once with a dog and picked him up at the end of the segment. The remaining 460 miles is dog-friendly. The CT is extremely well developed, easy to follow, and well built. I have always hiked it in under 30 days, but I think a more leisurely 35-40 days would be perfect. See www.coloradotrail.org for info and more on seg 1.

We just got done the CDT and thought of our dog. On the Colorado Trail there is some long waterless strechs from Marshall Pass south through the Saguache. The CT has a dog section on their website.

If you stay on trail the Winds would be good, northern Colordo and the Pintlers in Montana. Of course you could veer to the West and hit the dog frindly Cascades.

Water is a huge issue. Plus pointy things in the desert.
