instep crampons
We’re heading from KM this summer north around june 15, and considering the snow conditions, we’ve decided it might be wise to purchase instep crampons in addition to ice axes for the sierra. problem is, when searching on the net i can only find very few models, and no details about weight. can anyone suggest light weight models (including weight specs)? also, is there a problem using these with running shoes?

I use instep crampons here in NH in the spring when you only need some traction for short stretches. I got mine at EMS, they are cheap and light, only 4 or 5 ozs. If I am going to be on ice and packed snow all day I will bring my Kahtoola hikers crampons wich, including the bag, weigh 21.5 ozs. Because the instep crampons fit under your instep, if you don’t have a stiff sole I would think it would hurt the bottom of your foot after a while.

Do the camp 6 pointers fit running/trail shoes effectively?

Very light, and you can put them wherever on your shoes you find them to be most effective.
