Many years(1991?) ago I hiked to top of Boundary Peak in Maine. At the time the swath that Canada cut thru the forest was still fairly new and i even used it to get to the peak.
Last year I saw it again at the northern end of the Long Trail. You could easily see the swath to the west, but the clearcut had now grown many 6 ft tall plants, weeds, grasses and trees. If you were determined, I suppose you could do it, but the going would be alot tougher than the first time I saw it.
I was intrigued the first time i saw it because from Boundary Peak, I could see for miles in both directions, th line created by the clearcut as it undulated up and over the other hills and mtns along the border. There are even small monuments every 1/4 mile, with U.S./Canada on opposite sides at the base.
As I said before it has been many years since i first saw the “boundary cut” and the possibility of walkintg the border now would seem to be a much more daunting task.
GOOD LUCK!!!
