JMT Shuttle Services

I am trying to figure out the best way to get to Yosemite from Whitney Portal. I have seen several posts about shuttles, but they all seem to be short distance shuttles (to Lone Pine or Independence).

Are there any shuttle services that will take a group from Whitney Portal to Yosemite?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Check our yarts.com for a shuttle. You can also hitch hike it in half a day or so.

it should be a pretty easy hitch. i suppose you are parking a car at whitney portal. just find a ride down to lone pine, the only place people are going that are coming down the mountain. then find a ride north on 395. 395 is the major road in the owens valley. take that to the turn off for 120/tioga pass road which everyone heading down will be going to yosemite. or take it to lee vining then find a ride into yosemite via 120 with someone leaving lee vining which is a bit further north on 395 from the turn off to 120. from 120 you will go by tuolumne meadows and then find a ride down to the valley.

you can also get a ride on the yarts from lee vining and tuolumne meadows to the valley. if you are interestd in public transportation see this site for more info.

Try Blair at Highsierratransportation.com. I used him last summer and he’s dependable (if pricey). He’s based in Bishop and covers SoCal + the Sierra.

You can take the CREST bus system then take the YARTS bus system into Yosemite from there.
To Tuolumne Meadows or all the way down into Yosemite Valley.

From reading the Web site

It appears there is no way on the weekend to get out of Lone Pine other than hire a ride or yogi one. Is this correct?
