Hospital officials will release more details at 2 p.m. about the two missing people rescued this morning.

Brandon Day, 28, and Gina Allen, 24, both of Dallas, had been missing in the San Jacinto Mountains since Saturday.

They were part of a convention group on a tour of the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway on Saturday. The two were left behind and had been lost since then, said Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Earl Quinata.

On Monday, Day and Allen found a backpack belonging to another hiker, John Donovan, a 60-year-old Virginia man who has been missing about a year.

They used matches from Donovan's backpack to light a signal fire.

The two were found at about 9 a.m. today.

Authorities are resuming a search for Donovan.

To learn more of their ordeal, read The Desert Sun on Wednesday."

Didnt see original post so reposted. I hadn’t heard anything about Donovan until now. Was there a search party formed when he went missing last year?

His body was found 100 yds from the backpack. No word on the cause of death as yet.

Yeah…his skeleton was found with arms wrapped around a tree, or tree branch in a stream. They said there was a sort of diary found in his backpack…he wrote he was out of food and water, and when his body was found to bury his ashes at the V.A. cemetary, or something like that…
