I came across this cabin along the John Muir Trail just outside Kings Canyon.

Does anybody know about it? Can hikers stay here?

I am pretty sure that is a snow survey cabin, not intended for public access. I saw it when I hiked the JMT a year ago.

It is a snow survey cabin. It is not available to hikers. The one I stopped at was padlocked with no treaspassing signs. There were some nice places to camp nearby however.
