John muir trail maps

I’m planning to thru-hike the JMT this summer. I recently purchased the Wilderness Press JMT guide, but found the maps in the book rather unhelpful. I was hoping to blue-blaze a little bit but the maps in the book don’t really highlight side-trails. I was also hoping to ressuply somewhere between 40-70 miles from whitney (i know this will probably mean a day of hiking each way). Considering all this, what would be the best maps to purchase, and how do I go about getting them?

If you want something even broader than these, then you’ll probably have to get individual quad maps. But the Harrison maps are very good, and will show you the Kearsarge Pass Trail that leads out to Onion Valley TH. That is the trail out for people wanting to resupply someplace between VVR/MTR and Whitney. The guide is good to read, but i’d leave it at home.

Thanks mark. I totally agree on the guide. There was a lot of info i don’t need there. I’m just going to print out my own mileage chart with any necessary info.

The mileages are on the Harrison maps. I would just scribble other notes on the backs of them. I’d send mine to you but i kept my journal on the backs of the maps so now i have to become famous and sell them on ebay.
