Any opinions on the nicest part of the John Muir trail to hike in only about 3-4 days? Thinkng just Happy Isles to Donahue Pass or farther, but any other suggestions? Thanks!

Tuolumne Meadows to Reds Meadows. Either direction would work well.

Rae Lakes Basin. Exquisite.

I was blown away by McClure Meadows up through Evolution Valley and over Muir Pass. Woods Creek to Rae Lakes and Glen Pass are also great.

You can’t go wrong anywhere on the JMT, but I’d recommend starting further south than Happy Isles and Donohue Pass.

Tuolumne Meadows to Red’s Meadows would be nice, and it would be easy to arrange a shuttle. You could also hike a North Lake to South Lake loop, which would take you up through McClure Meadows, Evolution Valley (past Evolution Lake), over Muir Pass and then out through Dusy Basin over Bishop Pass and down to South Lake (from which it would be fairly easy to catch a ride back to North Lake). Kearsarge Pass to Whitney Portal would also be a nice section, or you could just head over Kearsarge and go to Rae Lakes. If you are starting from the west side, the Rae Lakes loop is also a nice option.
