just wondering wheres a good place to start section hike the at trail but i want to do about 30 miles
does shuttles run that far

If you start at the top of Springer Mtn. and hike to Neels Gap (30.7 miles), you can get a shuttle from there to just about anywhere. Shuttle services are all up and down the AT. Get a thru-hikers guide book and locate the ones you need. You can get books and maps that describe the trail by state, if you are only interested in a certain state. Contact the Appalachian Trail Conservancy.

Springer to Neels Gap is an excellent intro to the trail and is the logical place if you want to section the AT. Contact HikerHostel.com. They have a beautiful hostel catering to hikers in Dahlonega GA. They can shuttle you from your bus or rrain stop. If you drive there you can leave your car there and they can shuttle you back to the hostel from Neels Gap to pick up your car. They are great people. Have stayed there 3 times.
