Anyone used these on the trail? According to a pamphlet at my local Rock Creek Outfitters, as long as the water is clear and 20 deg/c it will kill crypto in 30 min. If it’s murky or 5 deg/c it could take the suggested 4 hours to work.

Does this mean I will would have to carry a water temperature gauge or could one use his finger to judge temperature.

although they seem just as good as aqua mira or any other water treatment, they are much more expensive, especially on a thru hike where you may use several tablets a day

Yes, I noticed they were a bit pricey considering I would be drinking 3-4 liters a day including supper. At that rate a $14 pack would only last me 7-10 days. The questionable waiting period also isn’t exactly idea. I think I’ll go with Aqua Mira.
