Katahdin in June

A few of us wannabe thru-hikers are heading up to Katahdin next week for a sneak preview of the Mighty K. Can anyone tell me what the temps and bug situation is like in Northern Maine in late June? Any other advice, random thoughts?

Northern Maine in June will go back and forth between pretty cool temps in the fifties day/ upper thirties night to mid eighties in the day. If its not raining the temps are pleasant in June. If your looking for black flies and mossies then June is a good time to go. There should be plenty of both. Here in southern NH we had a mild black fly season but the mossies have been pretty bad so far.

we were just up there last week for a week. All trails are now open (still lots of nice snow to view tho). Mosquitos were bad the lower we got - black flies the same. nothing lots of deet won’t handle. bugs were pretty thick at Katahdin stream c.g. Have a good hike!
