Kennedy Meadows Post Kickoff

I am thinking about cleaning up a couple of sections of PCT trail that I had to skip around because of injury last year, and am contemplating a southbound KM to Mojave hike post kickoff this year. Does anybody know what the snowcover is normally like at Kennedy Meadows itself around the last few days of April first few days of May (usual average if any) and if the road up to Kennedy Meadows is even open at this time? I am currently living in Las Vegas, and would rather do this section southbound if possible because it would be easier to get transportation back from Mojave than it would be from KM when I’m done hiking, but I don’t want to try getting up to KM the day or 2 after kickoff, if I can’t physically get there. Any advice or experiences would be appreciated.

Well the road first of all is always open to the store year round…Rarely will snow be staying that late on the grounf there…

Thanks M.E. for the info on the road being open year round up to the store. Do you know if the owners of the store allow sectioning hikers to park their car there, or anywhere else nearby for what would be 8-12 days or so if I were to be able to arrange to have another ride back up there afterwards to get my car back once I hit Mojave?
