Hiked Section #2 today. Absolutely perfect conditions, with very little snow/ice anywhere on the single track. First big storm for Denver expected tomorrow. Series of numbered pink and orange marker flags along the trail today. Anyone have any idea of what’s going on with these? Hard to believe these conditions in late December.

The multicolored pin flags you saw mark projects for 2011 volunteer trail crew. Each color flag indicates a different type of upgrade: rolling dip water bar, tread widening, retaining wall, etc. This flagging and the trail work will result in more sustainable tread, mainly working to limit erosion.

In early June the CTF will have weekend volunteer trail crews and concentrate on training. It’ll be fun and worthwhile. CTF postal mails the crew schedule and registration packet in late January or early February. If you want this mailing, email your contact info to ctf[at]ColoradoTrail.org. Otherwise, find the crew schedule posted to ColoradoTrail.org by mid February.
