I’m starting my thru-hike on the 8th and have everything planned: food, mileage, re-supplies, maps, etc… This is my longest hike yet and i’m wondering if anyone has any suggestions on those small “extras” that made their trip that much more enjoyable- without excess weight. Any ideas would be appreciated. THANKS!

hi, we are starting on the 10th… maybe see ya out there. The 1 suggestion i would give is be prepared to throw the " schedule " out to some extent…NEVER quit on a rainy, blustery, snowy painful day. if you leave the trail do it on a perfect day …then you will know you are doing it for the right reasons…won’t have as many regrets or questions about it…enjoy the hike. It go quick even when it seems as if you are hiking in quicksand…

Hey yappy-
Thanks for the encouragement- I know exactly what you’re saying, and i’m planning on the full deal… all the way to Durango! Hope to see you and your partner out there- i’ll be the 5’6" guy with a red Arcteryx pack that’s way too big! Safe travels
