What is the latest practical date to start the hike from Maine if you are planning on a 75 day hike? Would August 15th be too late?

August 15th would be a great SOBO start date for a 75 day hike. You get nice cool and dry weather for most of the hike and avoid the cold and snowy weather.

I hiked for two weeks last September, from Abol to Bigelow. Great weather, though one night the temps dipped into the low 30’s.
Check out TDS’s blog - totallydifferentsubjectblogspot or some kind of .blogspot.com or some sort of variation.
He hiked from Katahdin south, starting about September 8 (?) and went all the way to Deleware Water Gap (he flip-flopped).
