Will a driclime, some wind pants, and a base layer suffice for a mid-Sept. hike on the trail?

I would bring more clothes, unless you are planning on hopping into your sleeping bag as soon as you stop hiking. Even in the relatively warm month of August, it can be below freezing at night, and afternoon thundershowers can bring rain, hail and even snow. September is colder, the days are shorter and the weather is less predictable, so you want to be prepared for anything. That said, if you are trying to go really light and you don’t mind hiking through bad weather or getting in your sleeping bag if things turn really cold, you might be okay.
