What is the most drastic weight reduction change or bizarre gear idea/ change/ alteration that some of you have made?

I dropped about 9 lbs. changing from Lowe womens pack to ULA. It was best $250 spent on trail. I became a lightweight overnight, which is good, as I had only 4 months to finish. If you have any other gear questions, feel free to email me.

Frameless pack, closed cell foam, tarp, umbrella, layered clothing system, micro dropper bottles, no stove, no camp shoes, no filter

i agree with dropping the filter, unless there’s some kind of drought in VA or PA. you won’t get iodine poisoning. camp flip flops or crocs are good though b/c you’re feet really hurt at end of day. i don’t know what all this talk is about umbrellas b/c i never saw them and would personally prefer an effective rain jacket–you don’t want to be carrying things in your hands, right? i also think that a msr microzoid or something similar is preferable to a tarp during mosquito/tick season and weighs about the same
