Lightweight tents

I need advice on where to look for thru-hike-worthy lightweight tents. I’ve camped before in the kind that had a rainproof top and mesh lower sides and an all-mesh front with zipper, and could be pitched with just a few stakes and a trekking pole, and then put some Tyvek down on the ground. Very light, and the bugs stayed out. Where should I look? Any recommendations? Thanks. --“John Galt” MEGA '03

Check out the Hubba, not to be confused with the Hubba Hubba

Two excellent light weight tent makers: http://www.tarptent.com/links.html & http://www.sixmoondesigns.com/

John - TC nailed it. Tarptent.com, definitely! Got my tarptent 2000+ miles ago and it’s still going strong.

Check out the new LightHeart Tent, it uses treking poles, and weighs only 1 lb 9 oz. “Ramble ON” (search trail journals) has one and has several pictures of it.

This tent has more room to sit up and put all your gear in it than most of the other tents. Lighter too

Look on gossamer gear website for “the one” tent that weights 1.1#. The new version with cat cut panels sheds wind very well. Sitting headroom and room for your lightweight pack inside.

my wife and i used a big agnes seedhouse sl2 on our thru last year. it was the single best piece of equipment we carried.

I have to agree with duck - BA tents are fantastic! A little heavier than some others out there, but hold up well, plenty of room, good weather and bug protection. I’m currently using a SeedHouse1 that I bought before the SL was available, and it’s still going stong!

As always, Trailjournals comes through with plenty of forum responses. Thank you everyone for all the tips. Awesome.

The black Diamond First Light is a good tent. it has problems with down pours, but it a faithful all around tent other than that.
