Little Jimmy Bear

There were problems earlier this year with an agressive bear at the Little Jimmy campground in the Angeles National Forest. On 03-Jul-03, the bear knocked down a newly-arrived hiker and started to drag off the hiker’s pack; the hiker got up and recovered the pack (shouted, threw rocks, etc.). 0n 31-Jul, the bear was killed (presumably by the Calif. Dept. of Fish and Game). The story was reported on the AP newswire on 18-Aug.

Thought you folks might like to know. It’s a shame they weren’t able to relocate the bear.

thank you very much for letting us know. i try to get to LJ once a year, but i’ve never seen so much as bear scat there. if this keeps up (idiots letting bears get food, bears having to be put down), pretty soon we’ll be required to carry cansiters in the Angeles as well. grrrrr.
