Liz and the Lion

The most amazing CT story I ever heard was from Elizabeth, who has hiked the CT twice. She hikes by herself (and we wish she wouldn’t :sunglasses: ). Ever since she told me I have been a little more observant of my surroundings on the CT. Anyway, she said that on her first thru-hike she spotted a mountain lion crouched on a rock above the trail as she got close to a public campground near Silverton (I thnk). Suddenly it pounced, but instead of attacking her it merely used her as a stepping stone to get across the trail. It landed on her head and then was gone. Liz had to go into the campground to get her jeans cleaned because of the shock. Sorry if you are reading this Liz, but it is a good wakeup call to keep our eyes peeled. I know this tale is hard to believe but for all the folks who know Elizabeth, we know she wouldn’t make it up ! I would be very interested in any other lion encounters on the CT. (oh my!) … APPLE

Mature mountain lions weigh 100+ pounds. Did it flatten her?

A lion write-up appears in the most recent CT Tread Lines newsletter.

I’d think a lion encounter would be a fun memory that one would revisit many times, as long as it was without injury. Makes me shiver to think of a lion stepping off one’s head!

This is total BS…I don’t believe one bit of it. Sorry just my two cents.
