Local weather lately

It seems that Colorado has had some odd weather lately.

We usually see a quick thunderstorm in the afternoons. During the drought, the last 3 years, these have been infrequent. But for the last week we have been getting the daily downpour once again, but it has been anywhere between 6 PM and 10 PM instead of at 4 PM (late afternoon). Seems like the later in the evening it occurs, the better the lightening show. Thank God we haven’t been getting the huge hail, if any, that the midwest has been getting.

Also, is it really the end of June? Someone pinch me if it is. Because it’s cold in the mornings! And I’m at 5000 feet. It’s got to be colder in them there mountains! Anyone got a report on that?

This past weekend we camped at 11,000 feet near Georgia pass. It was comfortable during the day and evening. The mornings were cool. We don’t know what temp, but our water didn’t freeze! It was actually pretty comfortable. We did get hail heading out of Kenosha Pass, but it only lasted 15 min, and we liked it better than the rain. It rained and hailed friday evening after dark, and then it was precip free for the rest of the weekend.

It sure is strange weather, but the water sources are real good!
