How do you find someone on the trail if you have not heard from them in 9 or 10 days? Suggestions would be appreciated.

Post their name here and people will look out for them. Do a search on this forum for their name. Ask trail angels to post a sign near trail heads that they need to call home. Let us know where they were last time you heard from them and where you expect they might be. When I was looking for my son, a trail angel ran into him and told him to call me, it worked very fast.

Where is the last place you heard from the hiker? What is their trail name?
I live near the AT in Northern Virgina and will help if I can.
In addition to the excellent suggestions above…you may also want to notify the ATC or the local chapter of the ATC that maintains that section of trail. The ATC will have the contact info for trail angels and local chapters.

Check for journals of hikers that that your hiker has mentioned. You can then search in that person’s journal for the name of your hiker.
