Long Trail fall colors

Does it look like this year will be a good year for fall colors on the Long Trail in October? Rainfall during the summer is supposed to be a factor, but I haven’t been paying attention this year.

Also does the Long Trail pass though a lot of deciduous forests in the southern end, or mostly evergreens? I’ll be doing the southern LT in late October.

It’s pure speculation as to what makes the best fall colors.

Generally speaking, colors usually peak around Columbus Day. Earlier in the north. By late October the leaves will probably be down.

The forsest in Southern Vermont is mixed. Down low, it’s deciduous. At elevation, it’s spruce (like Spruce Peak).

I have to agree. Late October will be too late. The colors seem to be starting a bit early this year as well.
